American Folk Art Doors, a pair
These are the doors. Salvaged from a farmhouse in rural Ohio. They are so special photos hardly convey the richness of character and unique labor of love they must have been to create…
Around the 1920s, and presumably as they hung in the same house, these doors were carefully hand-carved and (with various other techniques) decorated. They are probably a bit older than that timeframe-but considering the age of the home they are pair of solid wood single two panel turn of the century interior doors. With the allover decorative motifs typical for the period, including craftsman stylized borders and depicted other natural elements but mostly the animated leopard’s heads at the center of each door; these are a head-spinning and truly remarkable piece of American folk art history.
Sold as-found. Backsides are painted white. No hardware was present; however, these doors are in overall excellent condition and ready-to-use with the new owner’s choice of period-correct door hardware. We can offer consultation on resources for antique hardware if needed.
Truly a once-in-a-lifetime find, these doors will make a powerful impact on any space.
Each door measures
78” tall
30” wide
1.5” deep
